Being on an acne diet is a very fascinating idea. Most importantly, who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate gives you zits? We almost all have. So it doesn’t seem so crazy that by watching what you eat could prevent a break out.
However, an acne diet can be hard to create for a large number of people. This type of diet is highly personal since is is based on each individual’s response to foods. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Keep a journal. You might even try taking pictures with your cameral a few times a week. So if and when your skin clears up, stay on the diet you were on at the time.
Here are some simple rules to get you started on an acne diet:
* Up your intake of protein - Some dermatologists believe that protein is correlated with cleared skin. They believe this because protein has an enzyme in it that limits oil production. Oily skin is very vulnerable to breakouts.
* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - You do not need to cut out carbs completely. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is why common knowledge says that junk food leads to acne. In reality, junk food is high in carbs.
* Green tea is a must - If at all possible try to drink the real stuff. Brewing the green tea is the best way to drink it. However, if you can’t stand the stuff, then natural green tea drinks will do. Green tea will restrain the production of androgen. Androgen is a hormone that can cause breakouts.
* Restrict your salt intake - Most salt contains iodine. This is the reason we usually call table salt “iodized salt.” Iodine can be one of the biggest inflammatory agents in people with acne.
While watching what you eat, you should also be very careful with what you put on your face. If you currently have acne, you are more aware than most of what is contained in your beauty products. You should only use moisturizers without oil and natural and organic skin care products. These products will least likely cause you to breakout. If you wear makeup, then consider investing in mineral makeup. Many dermatologists believe that mineral makeup can actually alleviate acne problems and enhance the results of your acne diet.
