The technological advancements we see every year are quite extraordinary. It seems like only yesterday that we first got TVs and music players, now everything is HD, flat screen, digital and MP4. The majority of technological advancement is aimed at speeding up our lives, and in the entertainment domain it’s all about making things bigger, brighter, louder and more stimulating. This said, there is one new technology that aims to slow things down, chill us out, and make us feel better.
The virtual spa is a online computer program that aims to simulate the experience of being at a health spa. Developed by Restless Creations in London, It uses a virtual head set to immerse the user in luxury spa surroundings. Your time in the can be spent checking out all the rooms, gardens and facilities, or making some new ones if you like. You can plug your own selection of relaxing music into the game and even book in for a relaxing body polish and massage if you’d like. There is an optional attachment of a vibrating chair pad that can simulate having different spa treatments. There are constant updates being made to the game all the time and the next activities plan to be sports like bowls and short tennis.
The developers claim that using the virtual spa game for 30 minutes will bring down your resting heart rate by up to 20%. The suggest market for the game are people who cannot afford to take spa days themselves or people who suffer from tension or stress. They hope that once the game takes off they will be able to start sending out real skin care products to gamers so that can complete that spa experience without leaving the house
